ABLEDATA, the Premier Source for Information on Assistive Technology
ABLEDATA is a federally funded project whose primary mission is to provide information on assistive technology and rehabilitation equipment available from domestic and international sources to consumers, organizations, professionals, and caregivers within the United States.

American Printing House for the Blind
The American Printing House for the Blind (APH) was founded in Louisville, Kentucky in 1858, making it the oldest institution of its kind in the United States. APH is also the world's largest company devoted solely to creating products and services for people who are visually impaired.

Assistive Technology for Individuals with Disabilities
This web site was designed to provide the viewer with the ability to access information surrounding assistive technology for individuals with disabilities. It reviews historical perspectives, laws, existing assistive technology, funding issues, and a means with which to acquire equipment. Readers who can benefit and gain a greater insight into available resources and information within this web site include educators, administrators, parents, students, individuals with disabilities, and athletes with disabilities.

Center for Applied Special Technology
Founded in 1984, CAST is an educational, not-for-profit organization that uses technology to expand opportunities for all people, including those with disabilities. The following sections explain CAST's mission and goals, accomplishments, staff, board, and describe opportunities for Web visitors to support CAST's work.



Center for the Study of Autism
The Center for the Study of Autism (CSA) is located in the Salem/Portland, Oregon area. The Center provides information about autism to parents and professionals, and conducts research on the efficacy of various therapeutic interventions. Much of our research is in collaboration with the Autism Research Institute in San Diego, California.

Computer Technology in Special Education and Rehabilitation
Computers are tools that can provide solutions to many problems facing people with disabilities today. Closing The Gap, Inc. is an organization that focuses on computer technology for people with special needs through its bi-monthly newspaper, annual international conference and extensive web site.

Conductive Education Information Home Page
Conductive education is a unique system of teaching and learning for children with motor disorders such as cerebral palsy and spina bifida. It is designed to improve motor skills and increase independence of many aspects of common living. It is not a cure, but a method of exercises and education which are broken down into basic functional movements.

Council for Exceptional Children (CEC)
The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities, students with disabilities, and/or the gifted. CEC advocates for appropriate governmental policies, sets professional standards, provides continual professional development, advocates for newly and historically underserved individuals with exceptionalities, and helps professionals obtain conditions and resources necessary for effective professional practice.

Welcome to the Internet Resources for Special Children (IRSC) web site. The IRSC web site is dedicated to communicating information relating to the needs of children with disABILITIES on a global basis.

National Center to Improve Practice (NCIP),
The National Center to Improve Practice (NCIP), located at Education Development Center, Inc., was funded by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs from 1992-1998 to promote the effective use of technology to enhance educational outcomes for students with sensory, cognitive, physical and social/emotional disabilities.

The National Information Center for Children and Youth with Disabilities
NICHCY is the national information and referral center that provides information on disabilities and disability-related issues for families, educators, and other professionals. Our special focus is children and youth (birth to age 22).

Online Asperger Syndrome Information & Support

School-to-Work Outreach Project (STWOP)
The School-to-Work Outreach Project (STWOP) was a nationwide, three year project funded by the U.S. Department of Education to improve school-to-work activities including students with disabilities by identifying and sharing school-to-work models/practices/strategies that work, encouraging others to adopt or replicate those models. Although the STWOP completed the identification process in the Fall of 1997, we are continuting to post the profiles of exemplary models/practices/strategies, in addition to other products developed by this project.

Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth
The Center's Talent Searches identify, assesses, and recognize students with exceptional mathematical and/or verbal reasoning abilities. Students qualify for participation in the Talent Searches by scoring at or above the 97th percentile on a nationally normed, standardized aptitude or achievement test.

Gifted Resources Home Page
If you have a gifted and talented child, visit this site for links to summer school programs, talent searches, specialized schools, and other educational enrichment sources. You'll also find publications, organizations, and pen pal exchanges for gifted students.

ADOL: Adolescence Directory On-Line
This guide contains online resources about the issues faced by today's teens. If your teen is struggling with eating disorders, alcohol, violence, or a variety of other issues, you can help them cope with the resources on this Web site.

Whether you need to put an end to a new misbehavior, provide your gifted child with new challenges, or get special resources for disabled children, you'll find some of the Web's best resources here. Then meet with other parents and teachers on the Special Education discussion board.

Adoption.com
The best features of this site are the chat rooms and message boards for adoptive parents, adopted children, and birth mothers. Their library also has great information on a variety of adoption issues. Find an adoption lawyer or support group in your area.

LD Online
If your child has a learning disability, this site is a must. Experts describe the basics about learning disabilities and bring articles, events, personal essays, chat groups, and online newsletters to interested teachers and parents.

National Association for Gifted Children (NAGC)
This organization provides publications and resources for parents with gifted and talented children. Evaluate your child's abilities, learn about gifted education, and find summer and enrichment programs to tease students' brains.

National Information Center for Children and Youth with Disabilities
This clearinghouse allows you to ask an expert a question about special needs or obtain a referral to a national or local organization. Find publications and information on specific disabilities, special education programs, education rights, and early intervention.
